Weekend day trip by car to Kent

Large flocks of waders roost at Oare Marshes

Sunday 22nd November 2020

We will visit one or more of the superb birding sites in this diverse county. Details will be decided closer to the date according to what offers the best day’s birding. The problem is that there is so many good sites to choose from. Oare, which is featured above, is rivalled by sites like the Isle of Sheppey, Cliff, Grove Ferry, Stodmarsh and Dungeness. We shall just have to see…

Day trip by car to Titchfield Haven

The reserve, looking inland from the sea-front

Thursday 17th September, 2020

We may not have group access to the reserve, but we can watch part of it from the sea-front and there is still a great deal of good birding habitat in the beach, on the Solent, along the canal path and along Brownwich Cliffs. At passage time, many species of waders, passerines, terns and raptors gather at this coastal launch pad. It is an excellent time to look for Bearded Tits. There are often interesting sea birds on the Solent.

Meet at 9.30 a.m. on Meon sea-front (SU535023 / PO14 3JT)
