Arable

Atlas-Arable

Arable land (yellow) occupied 34,000 hectares in 2010 (Defra statistics).

Arable farming is concentrated on the downland in the west of Berkshire, with lesser areas in the north east between Reading and Maidenhead. The main crops are wheat, barley and oilseed rape, the autumn sown cereals accounting for half of the arable area.
