The Outdoor programme for the season beginning September 2019 is now posted.
There are some 20 trips in all, starting in early September and lasting until June 2o2o. There is the usual mix of local venues and trips wider afield. Our leaders are all experienced birders who know the venues and can identify the birds. Being part of a group is a good way of sharing and acquiring experience and several pairs of eyes can help to locate the birds.
There are two long weekends on offer, one to Norfolk and one to Anglesey, but do book early. In cooperation with our local RSPB groups, we will have access to four coach trips to venues which would normally be outside a day’s run: the first of these is to North Essex in September, so you will need to be quick to book a seat for that. In January there is the almost-traditional run to Slimbridge, Gloucesterhire, while February could see you enjoying Arne in Dorset. In May, the trip to Minsmere in Suffolk coincides with the best possible season there. We try to get to the nearest coasts a few times a year, but must not forget that a lot of good birding can be had locally, so there are plenty of local outings too. We have even been known to stop off at a convenient pub.
You may notice that the Birdfair Coach is not scheduled for 2020. This is usually an expensive trip to run and is not always well-supported, so the plan is to run it every second year.
Hope to see you out and about!
