Most grassland in Berkshire is used for grass crops and grazing, though there are substantial areas of amenity grassland in and around urban areas and some scattered rough grassland. 98% was assessed as “improved” in TVERC’s habitat mapping. The distribution of grassland is an indicator of the distribution of grazing animals, though grass crops can be transported considerable distances.
