Forest and heathland can produce a wide variety of species, making this a really special day. The early start is recommended, since we will be looking for song birds which are more active early on. We will be looking for such as Spotted Flycatcher, Wood Warbler, Redstart, Firecrest, Crossbill and Hawfinch, so it is worth getting up at the crack of dawn. Later we hope to find typical heathland species and to spend time watching out for Goshawk and Honey Buzzard. You wouldn’t believe just how successful we were last time -but we have to hope for the weather to be right.
Meet at Bolderwood car park SU243087 at 7 a.m. or join us at 10.30 a.m. for a raptor watch at Acres Down SU268097 (N.B. the postcode SO43 7GE is very general)
